My Teaching Philosophy
ESTEFANIA GUTIERREZ
My teaching is inspired by a multitude of experiences: my international baccalaureate dance training, my university dance training, and my heels dance training. I teach heels dance primarily to adults. As an educator I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where all of my students thrive. I want my students to experience an environment where they feel safe enough to take risks and grow. I have created a space where a community of women and LGBTQ+ come together to bring eachother up and celebrate their bodies. I encourage students to leave behind insecurities and walk into their excellence. My goal is that students leave class feeling empowered. I hope that my teaching transcends past the studio and into their personal lives. I believe that when we liberate the body we create possibility.
My heels classes are a place to explore divine feminine power and sensual energy. I am working to dismantle the taboo that surrounds women and sensuality. I want my students to stand in their bodies proudly and to understand their power. My classes not only work on personal development but also on technical dance training. I share my understanding of lines, proper heels technique, and musicality. My dance style has been described as elegant, graceful, fluid, smooth, and expansive. I have gained these attributes through my modern dance training which deeply influences my choreography. I challenge myself to teach something new and useful in every class so that students keep growing. My goal is to help them grow as dancers so that they may move on to dance professionally or teach. Overall, my teaching philosophy is to create an experience for students not just a class focused on steps and counts.
